Guardamar Beach Scene The thing that first draws people to the Costa Blanca is the fine weather and the superb beaches. All the beaches are blue flag. They are wide with fine powder sand and clear warm waters. They are well maintained being cleaned daily in summer and patrolled by lifegaurds. The finest beaches
are at Gaurdamar del Segura, La Marina, Santa Pola and Los Arenales.

Moors and Christians The Southern Costa Blanca stretches from Alicante in the north to the Mar Menor in the south. The principle centres of Alicante, Elche and Torrevieja all have an abundance of resaurants, street markets and shops. Most of these centres also have other entertainments such as cinemas and ten pin bowling, as well as their own unique festivals. Please consult our map to see the relative locations of these places.

House with Agave The area has a rich culture and history dating back to pre-phonecian times. The site of the ancient Roman colony of Illice which is on the outskirts of Elche is less than half an hour from La Marina and Guardamar del Segura. This is the place where the famous 3000 year old bust of the Dama d'Elx was discovered. Elche is also the home of the botanical garden known as the Huert de Cura , a fine basilica and the largest number of palms in Europe. Approximately 110 thousand are planted in and around the city. The Castillo de Santa Barbera and the old quarter in Alicante are also well worth a visit. As the town has a fine beach, good shops and an attractive marina, you can find plenty of things to fill one or more days there.
