La Marina is on the N332, the old coast road which runs from Barcelona to Malaga, between Santa Pola and Guardamar del Segura. It is an easy 20 minute drive from El Altet (Alicante) airport. The town is divided into two parts; the old pueblo which is between the coast road and the sea, and the new urbanisation which is inland of the coast road.

The pueblo is the smaller of the two parts of the town. It is seperated from the sea by a small pine forest and sand dunes. The beach is an easy 15 minute stroll or a drive of a couple of minutes. The pueblo has a mixture of Spanish style and English restaurants and cafes. It also has a small supermarket, banks and a range of other shops.

A car is advisable for those intenting to stay in the urbanisation. The beach is a 10 minute drive. There are buses to the pueblo, the beaches and local towns.

The blue flag beaches are a major attraction for La Marina. They are wide, approximately 4 miles in length, of fine powder sand and with warm, shallow, clear waters. The beaches are well maintained and they are patrolled by life guards in the summer. Apart from a couple of restaurants the beaches are undeveloped.

The urbanisation has a busy street market on a Thursday morning. The La Marina Sports Centre also offers bowls, an outdoor swimming pool, snooker and a variety of social and childrens activities.
