Santa Pola is a busy fishing port to the south of Alicante. It is only a 15 minute drive from El Altet (Alicante) airport and 25 minutes drive into the city of Alicante. There are frequent bus services to Alicante and other local towns, but a car is advisable. Click here for links to travel resources for this area.

The town has three fine beaches; playa Llissa, the town beach and a beach at Santa Pola del Este. A little to the north of Santa Pola, the town of Los Arenales also has fine beaches. All these beaches have the fine powder sands and warm waters characteristic of the area. All are blue flag beaches and all are patrolled by life-guards in the summer.

Santa Pola is a good place to catch a ferry to the Island of Tabarca. The island is surrounded by a marine reserve and is the perfect place for snorkelling. The town hosts a bull run and a lively Moors and Christians festival every summer. The Rio Safari Park can be found just outside Santa Pola on the Elche road.
